It’s been a little over a year and a half since my last wine tasting. 2023 was the year I got the wine parties going off the ground and I was having so much fun connecting with people in Iron River, MI and their connections in neighboring towns too. I spent a lot of my first year in the Appleton area getting on track with all the adult things, getting to know new people and reconnecting with people from my past chapters too. I’ve finally had my first host of 2025!

Sadie was my first host of this year and I’ve known her for quite some time. We played club volleyball together in high school for a handful of years. After I posted a POV on social media, I spent some time reaching out to everyone who had engaged with the post. I noticed that Sadie had been liking posts here and there that were about One Hope Wine and I sent her information on what to expect and how it works for hosting a wine party.

She lives in a town near my parents, so we got a date lined up in advance so that I could take off from my other jobs to make a weekend trip home. I spent a couple days with my parents, dinner with some coworkers from my first serving job in the Dells, and spent an evening at Sadie’s house too!

Setting the Scene

I arrived a little bit early, to get some things set up and organized. When you host a tasting, One Hope sends event guides, for guests to follow along and a wine rep version, as well as order forms with the tasting kit for the event. I wanted to make sure I had time to look through everything beforehand because the guides were updated since my last party. While I was doing that, Sadie was finishing up a beautiful charcuterie board and some appetizers for her guests. There was a slight delay with one of her guests, but that didn’t stop the conversations as the rest of her guests arrived.

Once everyone had joined we moved into her living room so everyone could get cozy with their wine glasses in hand while I guided them through the tasting. We encouraged sharing thoughts of each wine, side conversations, and laughter too. At the end of the tasting, I announced that everyone who placed an order before we wrapped up would be entered into a giveaway to win a bottle of their choice from our Love Language collection.

Wines Sampled

Best Sellers Bundle is a thoughtfully curated selection of predominantly white wines, each with a 90+ rating from California’s premier wine regions.

Vintner Sparkling Brut

Bursting with green apple, lush pear, and tropical notes, this sparkling wine is a perfect match for fish & chips, lemon tart, melon salad, potato chips, or a blackberry honey prosciutto panini.

Vintner Chardonnay

Notes of green apple, bright citrus, and vanilla. Pairs with creamy cheeses, fresh crab, macaroons, spiced squash, and dijon chicken.

Vintner Sauvignon
Blanc

Crisp and refreshing, featuring vibrant notes of lime, lemon, guava, and star fruit. Complements citrus sorbet, oysters, grilled artichokes, lemon pie, and a spring board with lemon hummus.

Herstory Rosato

Aromatic notes of rose petal, white strawberry, and cherry candy. Ideal with watermelon jerky, prosciutto pizza, and lemon risotto.

Vintner Cabernet
Sauvignon

Rich with dark berries, toffee, and a hint of vanilla, this robust red pairs wonderfully with blue cheese, roasted beets, beef filet, and baklava.

Field to Table Central
Coast Red Blend

Savor bold dark cherry flavors balanced with smooth oak and exotic spices. Subtle leather and dried rose petals provide a sophisticated finish.

Wine Rep Experience

Since it had been a while since my last party, AND it had been years since I had seen Sadie, I was a little bit nervous on my drive to her house. I made sure to set the mood with my music and I kept the positive thoughts flowing on my way to her house. I loved that Sadie’s event was laid back and relaxed, it made it easy for me to warm up as a wine rep again and get back into the groove of everything. I’m so grateful that everything was so easy going and that she was able to accommodate my full schedule too.

American Brain Foundation

Sadie chose American Brain Foundation as her non-profit to support in hopes that contributing to research in any brain related disease will help save or prolong someone’s life.

For 30 years, American Brain Foundation has funded research for various brain and nervous system diseases and disorders to improve treatments, prevention, and cures. Their spectrum of research is broad enough so that “when we cure one disease, we will cure many”. www.americanbrainfoundation.org is filled with resources and information including different brain diseases, their philosophy, people involved, current news, and how you can get involved in finding a cure for one, and many.

American Brain Foundation’s philosophy, “Cure One, Cure Many” directs researchers to focus on a wide variety of brain diseases in pursuit of life without brain disease. Their road map consists of their values that guide who they are and the way they work; building bridges, seeing the whole picture, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, caring about brain health for all, and being driven to find cures. They won’t stop until they get there.

The American Brain Foundation will be receiving $36.80 in donations from Sadie’s Event.
